Kids like Kawther

During emergencies children are always the most vulnerable to disease, malnutrition and violence.

Three and a half year old Kawther, is just one of 20 million children over the last decade who have been forced to flee their homes due to violence and conflict.

More than 1 million of these children have been orphaned or separated from their families.

Children need safety and protection to ensure they grow to be successful and productive members of society. If they don’t have access to fundamental rights such as health care and education, food, clean water and protection, they can never achieve the potential that each individual child is born with

UNICEF works to protect children like Kawther at every level. We do this by providing food, medicine and health facilities. We work with communities to promote knowledge of children’s welfare and their rights. UNICEF also works to supply schools during emergencies so children are given a protective environment where they can learn, play and simply be children.

All children deserve the right to be protected.
